Cheers Louise, thank for that, but Prison Officers I still know wont even speak to me, I am still no doubt after 25 years and was very much in the 1990s, very hated in the prison system, by both the crims and even more so by my former colleagues, right up to the highest ranks. i was called a MAGGOT DOG, and a RAT, that is as low as one can be called in jail. But I accept that now. That’s whythe Department of Justice – Corrections Victoria, won’t ever let me back into the modern day prison system. Not that I would want to anyway with all the maggot shit bags locked in the prisons in Victoria today anyway. Fancy being locked in and breathing the same air with Price, Binse, Hunter, Bayley, Denyer, Hicks, Dinsley, Denyer, Colingwood, Bahan, Mr Baldy and the rest of them, they are just getting worse by the horrible crime committed daily and in recent years, and so many of them are recidivist repeat serial offenders.
I’m just a out of touch dinosaur to the modern rehabilitation way of thinking in the softly softly justice system, and my Prison Officer personnel file is stamped, psychologically unfit for re-employment. Never to be in uniform again. I’m banned for life, from ever becoming a Correction Officer ever again, because I opened my mouth on things I should have looked the other way on, many years ago when drugs, corruption and gangsters were controlling in and out of jail. I rocked their corrupt boat 25 years ago. I bit the hand that fed me, so to speak. Also because, my out of date ways of thinking as a former Pentridge screw with my old school hard line ideals, that are not today in vogue with their rehabilitative efforts of corrective justice.
My outspoken thoughts, as in my many posts here, show I, did leave the Victorian Prison Service very bitter and twisted , on the lack of harsh treatment of the worst criminals in the present jails, and letting the crims haveall the says in prison rights in the jails instead of punishing them or letting them just rot and suffering behind bars, on 24/7 lock down and no protection jails.

Corrections Victoria believe in the prisoners loss of liberty is the punishment alone, and prisoners need to be helped, educated and given psychological therapy, sex offending treatment and so on in their sentences, to help them return for the better and reinter the community no longer a danger to society, unlike when they first come in the prison system many convictions to their long list of serious predatory crimes.
While there is some merit to this with many prisoners. The flip side is there are far to many, bad experiments taking place by corrections and the parole boards with unknown quantity habitual and evil or mad and bad violent inmates, that should never be giving this hope of returning back into the community.
This is where my hard line views are completely out of order with the modern Corrections Victoria, and all their educated experts and councillors. And this is why I was made to walk the plank, from their prison flagships. I didn’t fit in, I was an idiot, as the crims and officers used to call me. I don’t believe in going soft on dangerous crims and helping rehabilitate them, so they can get back out of jail, like has happened with Adrian Bayley and Peter Dupas and now Sean Price, for example, and they have fooled all the do-gooders, the so called professionals and justice experts , they have not reformed and instead they stalk more victims and commit even more heinous crimes, worse than their last stint in jail.
But I said back in the 1990s, to the prison experts in written and verbal reports about what I thought about the worst suspected killer inmates under my custody Peter Keogh and Peter Noris Dupas when he Keogh was a sly violent turd and Dupas was a serial rapist. They didn’t want to listen, I pulled my head in, kept my mouth shut, while they just set him free, unsupervised into the community, then finally after his 11 years set him free on parole. I was right in 1993, they were wrong!…That Peter Dupas was a sly manipulative ,cunning ,dangerous, scumbag, and should be locked away for life. But the parole board, they knew best and believed Keogh and Dupas were rehabilitated set him free!…Not long after I was no longer a serving Prison Officer. Dupas should have been hung on the old H.M. Pentridge Prison gallows and buried in a unmarked grave in quick lime in Pentridge cemetery. How he continues to be looked after in protection jail after all the victims he has killed. Is a miscarriage of justice. And the Department of Justice just recently are still not taking risk assessment on dangerous past criminals. Adrian Bayley first arrived in prison in 1990, yet in 2013, the parole board was still setting him free, despite his horrendous violent rapes of unknown numbers of women, on his previous freedom on parole.
And now the latest is Sean Christian Price , he is not new to the prison system either as a predator, but the parole board, or who ever concerned set him free. And he did what he does best , rape and kill. Then there was Steven James Hunter, Jason John Dinsley, Garry John Collingwood aka Barker, Harley Hicks. A sex offenders and violent criminals phone book could be filled with many more evil scumbag crims, to numerous to mention. One justice system failure after the other. And Guess where they are now?. Back in the safety of prison protection units in jails around the State of Victoria. So much blood on these justice do-gooders hands that set them free, and failed to see the risks of setting them free!…Many of the Prison Officers that I worked with were or became alcoholics. The same I suspect with the judiciary. With luck, I wasn’t one of them, but I easy could have. My savour was getting out of the Prison Service, I think back now. I made the best choose, before it destroyed me mentally. Its a would of hell, one way or the other. I would much rather march for and help victims of crime, than work back in modern jails helping the rights of rotten low life criminals serve less time behind bars to get back out on parole and reoffend again and again!…

These scumbag sex offenders never offend against the judiciaries next of kin. I bet if they did, then they would hand out a 25 year sentence for rape. I not sure on the maximum sentence for digital rape. Normal penetration rape carries a maximum of 25 years. The Judge that sentenced BAHEN, has said he handed out the maximum sentence of 8 years. Surely only 8 years is not enough for digital rape – the offender using his finger to penetrate a victim.
The impact on a victim would be the same whether it is using there thing – penis or using their hand or finger. Digital Rape should also carry a 25 year sentence.
But anyway even if it did , no judge would hand it out.

With Adrian ‘Hills Have Eyes Bayley’ , just one of his many rapes, should have earned him 25 years each. Then cold blooded murder 25 years on top of that. He has done 10 rapes that is known of, so that’s 10 x 25 maximum + 25 years to life for murder. 275 years. And even a do-gooder reduction non parole period of 200 years. This should have seen him die in jail.
So where the hell does him getting approximately 35 years come about.
Its still a nice long sentence, but surely the judge had the power to give him many more years, just in case some do-gooder parole board in the future, decides to give him mercy and parole in 35 years. Probably most unlikely. But who knows with the justice system and its merciful lawyers!
Getting back to the CHRISTOPHER BAHEN , his minimum of 6 years doesn’t appear to be a deterrence. On the news tonite, the community of Warrnambool and police are concerned about some attempted abductions by a unidentified man wearing a hoodie, pulling up in his car and asking young girls to go with a ride with him. This is bloody scary stuff, how many of these creeps are preying on students or kids. And what is their previous background.

How many MR CRUELS are creeping around looking for their next victim. This marching for stop the violence on women or men, is having no impact on the many unknown creeps out looking for a victim. And its blatantly obvious that these creeps whoever they are, are not afraid of being caught and are not afraid to go to, or should I say go back to jail, as they know they have to be protected behind bars!… I can recall Adrian Bayley when he was on the loose just before he raped and murdered Jill Meagher , a photo fit of a man wearing a blue hoodie was wanted for exposing himself to women in Coburg area……..REFERE, back to Caro’s picture and information posted on Aussie Criminals- ADRIAN ERNEST BAYLEY – Posts It wasn’t known to the community about the idenity of who ADRIAN BAYLEY, was at the time. Even the stupid parole board didn’t suspect or check on him. But whether the police knew it was him or not, who knows. But before the CCTV footage of him outside the Brunswick Bridal shop chasing Jill Meagher, only a indentikit sketch was available for public release?… SEE PHOTO ?… Then after he raped and murdered he got tipped off by some one, never disclosed in a position of authority in the Department of Justice , parole board or police?… This person who did this has never been made public or whether they ever faced court on criminal charges for perverting the course of justice by tipping of Adrian Bayley that he was a person of interest for the rape and murder of Jill Meagher in Brunswick, where at the same time there was other attempted sex attacks by more than one suspect? I am nor aware if any of them were ever caught at the time. Bayley was in custody at the time, in 2014, so there are others stalking in the same area? Possibly copycat rapists? I think one was caught , but never heard his name. The attacks all happened in the Coburg Brunswick and nearby suburban areas. And when Bayley was free on parole in 2012, random attacks were happening at the time, which could have been by Adrian Bayley, but others were also stalking the area. Don’t know if any of them knew each other or whether they were all just random unrelated attacks on women. We will never know?… Check this out!

Its just not good enough. Why are there so many of these creep sex offenders operating under the radar. This is why there should be a national updated sex offenders register not only for the police, but for the public access with photographs. So we know who our neighbour is, if he or she has been acting strange, like wearing a hoodie, driving around looking for victims. These creeps who ever they are living amongst us, and their is not a thing we can do about it, until some victim has been abducted, raped or even murdered. They should have their identity protected when they walk free from jail. The world should know who they are and what they stand for. This is not being a vigilante … this is a risk assessment for the protection of the innocent public. And if the sex fiend crim don’t like his privacy exposed, then fuck him, he can go back and live with all his mates and Mr Baldy in Ararat protection jail!…

One more thing, this creep CHRISTOPHER BAHEN, has been living in Ringwood area, for many year, this can’t be the first time he has been out creeping around with a knife looking for a victim.

Perhaps him getting 8 years for his rape for a first offence is to know he is now securely held in custody, pending further investigations for other past related crimes?… Unfortunately there appears to be many too many of these unknown off stalking offenders, not only in the Melbourne areas but elsewhere in Victoria. That Village of the damned Corella Place, needs a big high concrete wall and razor ribbon wire put around it and made a fortress like the H.M.Barwon Maximun Security Prison , to keep these serial stalker, sex offenders to be locked away in for life, until they die in prison, without any modern prison comforts and rights. Its time the protection prison system went back to the 1950s and 1960s when jail was real jail. That’s all these serial sex offender deserve. Make it a jail to be feared, It worked back them, and it could still work now, put them all in together and forget them, this will get them all permanently of the streets, where they can only prey and rape each in their cells in the exercise yard or the communal shower block!…………………………………………

“MORAN SUES, CLAIMING TWO ATTACKS BY PRISON STAFF”
“TOP DOG BITES BACK”
GANGLAND matriarch JUDY MORAN is suing the Victorian Government for damages, alleging she has been left in “permanent pain” following two assaults by prison staff.

The 71-year-old ,sentenced in 2011 to 26 years in jail for the murder of her husband Lewis Moran’s, brother Des “tuppence” Moran, claims she is the victim of two violent attacks by Prison Officers at Corrections Victoria – H.M.Dame Phyllis Frost Centre Women’s Prison in Deer Park Melbourne.

The Herald Sun has seen court papers issued by JUDY MORAN’S legal adviser George Defteros,
which detail the two alleged prison attacks.
JUDY MORAN claims the first attack took place on October 24,2009, while she was awaiting trial. She say two Prison Officers from the jail’s riot squad “unlawfully assaulted” her.
“The Prison Officers placed the plaintiff into handcuffs and dragged her into a caged room with walls encased with wire”, the legal papers say.
“They threw the defendant into the room causing her to hit the wall”.
The legal papers detail how JUDY MORAN allegedly struck the wall with the right side if her body,
causing injuries to her face and a broken right hip.
JUDY MORAN says while she was thrown on the floor the Prison Officers kicked her repeatedly over four hours.
As a result , JUDY MORAN claims she suffered several injuries including a skull fracture , severe bruising and — ” ongoing disfigurement ” of the right side of her face.
JUDY MORAN, who uses a wheelchair to move around the jail , also claims she suffered damage to her left knee as well as anxiety, depression and other psychological injury.

In the second assault, alleged to have taken place at the Dame Phyllis Frost Prison in June 2011,
JUDY MORAN claims Correction Officers placed her in handcuffs and “dragged her 40 metres to
50 metres down a pathway” while striking her with their elbows.
As a result , she says she suffered “broken ribs”, ongoing pain and disfigurement.

In a separate matter, JUDY MORAN is still appealing to the ‘Department of Justice” , to be moved back to her apartment – style unit at the women’s prison which she shared with three other inmates.
In it, they were able to cook for themselves and they had their own sitting room.

JUDY MORAN was moved to a single cell from the unit two months ago after a reported fight between two of her fellow prisoners.
The Herald Sun has learned that JUDY MORAN was told yesterday she wasn’t allowed back to the shared unit she was in, because she “can’t look after herself”.
A source told the Herald Sun yesterday : “Judy is really struggling”.

Cheers Serendipity. My opinion on building this new jail, is that for much- much less than the estimated record spending of 1.2 Billion dollars allocated . A remote vacant barren site chosen in the middle of Central Australia. It would be a cheaper option for Australian tax payers.
Something like a thousand or more second hand shipping containers bolted back to back or together to form a big ‘H’ with towers a fortress electrified high voltage fence and multiple rolls of tough razor ribbon wire and sensor escape detection alarms and CCTV, a super reinforced high tension steel pre stressed concrete wall around a wide stones filled hard to walk , vibration detection No Mans Land perimeter of Razor Wire covered reinforced and hardened steel banded shipping containers for cell blocks . Plenty of iron ore in Australia for all the steel to be used in the prison. Shipping containers from China. And a 24/7 on site Dog Squad preventing drugs in prison and searching for breakouts. No protection areas required, just a big caged exercise oval for them to sort themselves all out , with all their “tit for tats” or a big cage fight for them to let off their steam. No rehabilitation programs needed, just survival of the fittest . No need for the Death Penalty, as the crims would clean up their own!… And once a week a garbage truck to enter the prison and remove any dead bodies. Food and prisoners rations dropped in by military helicopter, to minimise escape risks. The crims then won’t be so keen to return back to this type of jail run on the style of plans and construction like the United States Supermax Camp x-ray Guantanamo Bay Terrorist Prison in Cuba!…
To save costs on Prison Correctional Officers wages. Just post static patrolling armed officers around strategic points of towers on the outside perimeter wall. Also it would be self, rehabilitating, no need to have Prison Officer working along side prisoners,except for security reasons and movement control, because word would quickly get around all the crims, that this Central Australia new prison, would not be a favourable place they would ever want to be locked up in. This type of harsh or Military Police run jail would lessen the overcrowding in other Australian modern jails. And the lesser crime or non dangerous inmates could be sent to the existing jails to do their rehabilitating sentences. While all the lifers, terrorists and serial scum bag sex offenders , rapists and any other serial violent offenders or predatory murderers, could be sent to this new facility as a deterrence to violent offenders!… One way in, who knows or cares if they ever come back out alive!… I even have a name for it. “THE BUCKLEYS HOPE SUPERMAX” for the worst dangerous criminals. Or just The new ‘H.Division High Security Unit’ or ‘H’ Containers prison
Central Australia Supermax Prison.

Some more good footage of the remains of H.DIVISION Pentridge- The rock breaking Labour and Industry yards entered by H.Division Tunnel walkway.. Note the crosses in the tunnel and the walkway tower above, where a armed Prison Officer, patrolled and watched the segregated prisoner crushing the rocks below, calling out “On the Cross”. H.DIVISION was before it closed was once a well maintained in tidy condition and cleaned regimentally in what was called the institutional daily clean, by the prisoner billets, or sweepers , constantly sweeping and mopping the floors under the orders of supervising Prison Officers. The strong smelling prison disinfectant was overpowering to kept the prison tiers and circle free from the stench of the body odour if prisoners. However the stink of the unhygienic inmates was often mixed with the disinfectant smell. After a long tour of duty a Prison Officer would go off duty smelling like a public toilet and from the prisoners heavy smoking of rolly tobacco, or tailor made jail ciggies, rolled with White Ox , which was a strong favourite tobacco in jail, by prisoners. Because it was a cheaper tobacco than Drum or Dr Pat ready rubbed rolly or pipe tobacco’s or packets of cigarettes. I tell you it was so good to have a long hot shower to remove the Pentridge Prison stale institutional odour smell from your uniform , wash my clothes and body. It would of been even worse for the crims, to scarred to have a communal shower in the general shower block, fearing sex attacks and rapes, by the predatory inmates. So they didn’t wash much. Some prisoners also never showered that often, being to afraid of getting gang raped or to lazy to wash themselves. Inmates often never washed to deter other prisoners from raping them. That is why the prison had a foul odour, from poor hygiene prisoners, the chain smoking and marijuana bong and joint smoking in the cells. The prison had to be cleaned with overpowering prison disinfectant to try and overpower the prison stench and stale air smells!.. Now the remaining H.Division , it is in a a shambles, I notice. Such a shame its was allowed to end up looking like this in this neglected state and some vandalism , as it is a very historical remaining relic of Pentridge’s brutal regime past.

Also a good film taking in the remains of D.DIVISION , 3 story wing and the GALLOWS , still from the top tier to the middle tier and a good view of the notorious D.Division exercise yards with the watch tower and razor ribbon watching on the prisoners that paced the yards below. “DETAINEE RESTRAINED AT PHYSIO SESSIONS”
ONE of Australia’s longest serving immigration detainees, who is locked in a battle over his DNA, has revealed the Department of Immigration sent him to a physiotherapy session to bounce on an
exercise ball in handcuffs and leg restraints.

ROY GILBERT, who has languished in immigration detention for five years, has spoken out to complain he is being left to “rot” in detention and he hopes the Australian Government will be forced to release him.
But Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has vowed to keep deporting criminals such as GILBERT,

ROY GILBERT, has refused to supply a DNA sample to clear up his citizenship. His mother in the UK has also refused.
GILBERT, who has a history of firearms offences , violence and burglary, was previously accused of trying to escape Maribyrnong Detention Centre in Melbourne by kicking out a window , before hurting himself in a fall from a 3.6metre fence.

Dave i knew Jock very well i knew all your family u were young back then i doubt chopper new him from pentridge Jock got out un 70 or 71, to my knoledge he never went back chopper would have been too young then. “CABBIE RAPIST’S JAIL SENTENCE IS SLASHED”
A CABBIE who handed his victim a business card after raping her in his taxi has won a two-year reduction of his jail sentence after an appeal.
ROBERT McNEIL BYRNES, 47, if BENDIGO, VICTORIA, also indecently assaulted a woman who got in his taxi an hour earlier but she managed to escape his clutches.
And months before the October 2012 assaults, he molested a friend of a family member on two separate occasions.
The father of the two pleaded guilty to five indecent assaults and was found guilty by a jury of two counts each of rape and indecent assault.
A County Court judge jailed him for 10 and a half years with a non-parole term of eight years.

But the Court of Appeals has ruled that while ROBERT BYRNES was a serious sexual offender who deserved a jail term if significant length, a total sentence of more than 10 years was excessive, once appropriate weight was given to mitigating factors.

During his rape trial, a jury heard that ROBERT BYRNES parked the taxi in an empty car park, placed his cap over the taxi’s CCTV camera and raped his victim in the back seat.
His terrified victim told police she had no other option but to remain in the taxi because she feared she may be taken somewhere and killed.
Before dropping her near her home, ROBERT BYRNES gave his business card and phone number, and told her to call him if she ever wanted a taxi.

Justices Phillip Priest and David Beach re-sentenced ROBERT BYRNES to 8 and a half years’ jail
with a non- parole period of six years.

“ICE – CRAZED ROAD RAGER ON STREET”
A ICE -addled maniac who repeatedly punched a pregnant woman in the stomach in a terrifying road rage attack walked free yesterday. And DAVID CUTT, who has served nearly eight months on remand , could be back behind the wheel in as little as six months from now.
DAVID CUTT,37, savagely bashed the seven months’ pregnant woman,26,after he drove his car across four lanes, into oncoming traffic, and slammed head-on into her stationary vehicle.

After she and her husband staggered, shocked, to the kerb, DAVID CUTT punched and kicked them in front of petrified witnesses, who saw him punch her repeatedly in the stomach.
DAVID CUTT also attacked several people who tried to intervene and continued his rampage when police arrived.
He punched one Police Officer in the face, fracturing his nose and eye socket.
He was eventually subdued by six Police Officers with the aid of capsicum spray.
David CUTT, who was not licenced to drive, pleased guilty in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court to nine charges over the incident in Camp Road Broadmeadows in Melbourne, last November 4, 2014. These included recklessly causing injury and assaulting police, but not driving under the influence of drugs or assaulting bystanders, one whom was stabbed in the hand with DAVID CUTT’S keys.
Magistrate Donna Bakos said CUTT could have been in no doubt that the woman he attacked was pregnant.
In sentencing him to time he had already served, as well as to a ‘two-year Community Correction Order’, – CCO -, she said his use of ‘ICE’ was behind his criminal offending.
“Your drug of choice — and your demise,really — has been “ICE, she said.
But Magistrate Ms Bakos said the public would be better served by CUTT’S being treated for his drug problems under a CCO than by his being in jail.
“I think the concern for the public is you have support on the outside, so that you never behave on these ways again,” she said.
“With the right support and treatment you pose less of a risk to the community.”

The magistrate heard that DAVID CUTT had a conviction dating from 2005 for ‘drug-driving’, as well as previous convictions for ‘possessing drugs’ and for ‘breaching intervention orders’.
Magistrate Ms Bakos also sentenced DAVID CUTT over his driving in an “erratic and bizarre way” on a separate occasion, during which he had attempted to drive the wrong way along the Western Freeway.
The Court heard that moments later, he asked other motorists for “SHARD” (SLANG FOR THE DRUG ICE).
DAVID CUTT was banned from the road for “six months” for road offences.

Auditor-General John Doyle says “out of date” laws have hampered his ability to scrutinise non-government organisations.
One audit did not review two of the Victorian privatised ‘prisons’ with the highest risk of ‘drug issues’ because they could not compel the private prison to grant them access to their ‘documents’.

“SENATOR NASH SAYS THERE’S NO EASY SOLUTION TO DEVASTATING ICE EPIDEMIC”
‘AUSTRALIA’ can’t “arrest is way out off ” its ice problem.
This is according to Assistant Health Minister Fiona Nash speaking about the impact of ice addiction in farming communities at the National Horticulture Convention on the Gold Coast this morning Saturday, June, 27, 2015.
“Police at all levels keep telling me we can’t simply look at supply, we can’t simply look at law enforcement, it’s got to be about looking at demand, looking at rehab and treatment, where the gaps are and what’s working”, Senator Nash said.
“It’s so important we tackle this now.
“The purity of ice has tripled in recent years from around 25 per cent around 75 per cent in many cases.
“The median purity is the highest on record.
“Greater purity equals more addiction, more violence and more added related crime”.
Senator Nash said she’d had “so many people” raise the topic of ice abuse with her while she was travelling around rural Australia.
“People would say, ‘ we’ve got this huge issue with ice in our community’, but it seemed that our rural and regional communities were being targeted by the dealers”, Senator Nash said.
“The recent Australian Crime Commission report confirmed that suspicion — bikie gangs and organised crime and directly targeting regional Australia , including our horticulture regions.
“The report used the example of Mildura, but there are many others”.

Senator Nash said the drug ‘ice’ or ‘methamphetamine’ typically contained “many chemicals you might find on the farm like : acetone – found in paint thinner; lithium – from batteries, hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, anti freeze as you’d find in car radiators… anhydrous ammonia like you find in fertiliser”.
She said ambulance data showed ice call- outs in regional Victoria had increased 198 per cent between 2011-12 and 2012-13.
Drouin orchardist and Fruit Growers Victoria chairman Brad Fankhauser said he was regularly seeing workers on ‘ice ‘.
“It’s got to the stage where I can just pick them out, you know which ones are going to cause trouble,” Mr Fankhauser said.
“It’s not the majority of people , I might get two or three people out of 40 per season and I imagine other places would have a similar sort of percentage”.
“Generally they just don’t turn up to work or are always late or not doing the right thing, so you just give them the sack.
“I think its foolish to say it’s not a problem, but that being said, I’m not really sure what else can be done…it’s a social problem”.
AusVeg chief executive Richard Mulcahy said problems caused by ‘ice’ abuse were magnified in the “small regional and tight – knit nature” of many vegetable and potato growing communities.

“It makes you feel like you on top of the world. The closest thing I can liken it to is the rush you get while body boarding”…. This is how 22-year-old former farmhand Jacob Kane , from Marlo in East Gippsland, describes what it is like to be high on ‘ice’… Jacob first started using ‘ice’ when he was 18 while working on a dairy farm at Nilma, near Warragul.
“I’d done other stuff (drugs) in the past so ‘ice’ seemed like the next step”, he said.
Despite believing he didn’t have an ‘ice’ addiction, Jacob admits to being a “pretty heavy user”.
“I was probably using ‘ice’ five days a week for close to six months”, he said.
“I’d have early starts at the dairy farm, so I’d use it to kind of wake up and get going.
“I think I did pretty well at masking the fact that I was high at work, but towards the end it became pretty obvious I wasn’t working to my full potential and that’s when things got really bad.
One of Jacobs closest friends died from a toxic batch of ‘ice’ that left several people fighting for life in hospital in December 2014.
“I think it provided a real wake up call for a lot of people around here”.
“If I had kept living where I was, I’d hate to think where I’d be now”. he said

Senator Nash said the fact that so little drug was needed to get high meant it was easy to import, transport and manufacture small amounts undetected.
“It poses unique risks for an industry — yours — which relies heavily on regional, rural and seasonal workers, ” Senator Nash said.
“Often young vulnerable people , such as backpackers , who are a long way from home.
“The spread of ice use and its increased purity has the potential to make it even harder for us to source reliable labour in horticulture.
“I’ve recently been told stories of farm employees being on ice. As ice is an amphetamine, its initially gives the user focus and energy for extended periods of time. Addicts have told me that initially 1/10 of a gram can give them sustained energy for up to 12 hours”.

Senator Nash said stories of ice on farms in this week’s Weekly Times added to anecdotal evidence of ice in the horticultural fruit picking workforce from “Mildura to Shepparton and in Gippsland”.
“It has become clear that we need a national strategy to tackle this issue”.
Apple and Pear Australia Limited Deputy chair Kevin Sanders said “We can all see the devastating impact of drugs and in particular methamphetamine and ice use in rural communities and in the cities”.
“It’s and extremely urgent issue that needs to be dealt with, “he said.
