Hi Country Lady..
It was a surreal moment. A glorious sunny QLD day with clear blue skies, birds chirping.. And the Baden-Clays, on display for all motorists on Mt Crosby Rd to view, standing there like royalty, almost like a monarch on display to it’s passing subjects… the large frame of Elaine had the aura of an empress, of which we were privileged to view. And that’s what bugs me about what I saw: the visual impression left was of their importance, not ABC’s – it was about them being seen ‘mourning’ there. Nigel’s Panama hat isn’t a typical ‘old mans felt hat’ that you would typically see in the back window of a beat-up FC Holden parked outside the local bowls club-RSL. His was fine straw with a black wrap-around… the hat was bright white and almost blinding… And it is typical of the Baden-Clays – who are essentially upper-lower-middle class ‘battlers’ but aspire to be recognised as much more, and carry on punching above their weight with the absurd upper-class charade (i.e. the hunting lodge skulls on their suburban fibro 3 bedder, the name change upon moving to OZ, the numberplate that reeks of imperial, racial arrogance), and who don’t realize that class-based systems of Victorian/Edwardian 19th century England don’t apply in the 21st century Australia, which they clearly view through their warped colonial, Rhodesian mentality.

And after seeing them at Kholo, I think back to Detective Roddick’s affidavit during the first bail hearing when it was confirmed that the Baden-Clay parents had refused interview requests from police. I can feel my blood temperature starting to rise…

I’m looking forward to the day I see Nigel driving the statesman with the trailer attached. That’ll be worth following…

Thanks very much for your post JJE! Where tact & discretion are concerned I’m surprised they weren’t making out on the car bonnet…. using Allison’s memorial as their new lovers’ lane. Thanks for your amusing description of Ma B-C. Lowered my level of rage to about a 9. Sickening bastards. I don’t know if I could be as discrete or dignified as you JJE. The temptation to wind down the window & share a few sentiments would’ve been all too hard to resist. Appreciate having your eyes on the ground :)

Cheers Bill, One thing I was taught, when I first became a as a screw and did my training in Pentridge. Was to firm but fair and so empathy above toughness to gain respect from any prisoners, regardless of the crimes that put them there……..There was as a word of advice by one of the old warders, who had become the highest ranking Governor in charge of the remand Metro D.Division. His words were that new screws will become hardened and brutalised, an easily corrupted…………… And that,……”There are all sorts of Prisoners !….. Some Prisoners would make good Prison Officers!,………And some Prison Officers would make very ordinary Prisoners”!.
What he was saying is that some Prisoners, did there time as Model Prisoners and were often good leaders of men, even though they were behind bars………. While some of the Prison Officers, Screws or Warders were real mongrel bastards the way they played mind games and treated the men in their custody, less than human, became arrogant asshole pricks, on the take, lazy and drunk on duty, very corrupt and abused their power, disciplined all men both Offices and Prisoners and bashed the crims in places like H.Division and other places they held charge, where they used fear and control and showed no respect or empathy for people who had gone on the wrong side of the law…. And should imagine themselves being treated the same and harshly imprisoned and put in the position of being locked up and treated harshly and brutalised, and treated less than human, as a insubordinate prisoner in places like H.Division, and forfeit their their humanity. As treating the prisoners as a bastard screw will get no respect from any man. And only make the screw and crim more brutalised!
One of the most notorious Prisoners in Pentridge was James Frederick Bazley, who had committed at least 3 known of murders, for the Painters and Dockers. He was held in the new part of J.Division, which was in 1989, the best part of Pentridge, for long term prisoners. Although Jimmy Bazley was given a very long term of imprisonment for a contract murder on anti drugs campaigner and politician Donald Mackay. Jimmy Bazley was the best behave crim in Pentridge. He had nothing to prove to any of the other crims, was old school, and kept to him self, was a very hard worker and became a highly trust billet, who cleaned in some of the most secure parts of Pentridge. He was always courteous to the Screws and never cause any trouble. And as far as I know he was never charged with any prison offence, never touched or dealed drugs or contraband, and was eventually grant parole, for good behaviour. Un fortunately some of the worst notorious crims in Pentridge were the opposite of Jimmy Bazley. Like prisoner Greg Brazel, Keithy Geore Faure, Steven James Hunter, Juilian Knight, and even in his younger days Mark Brandon Chopper Read, always into some sort of violence and trouble, and planning escapes or taking the Prison Officers to court on endless litigant prison complaints. Which is why they spent so much time in the slot of H.Division, and now Super Maximum Security wings in the new Prisons. They were very difficult to look after then and still are now, they were always involved in the Pentridge power plays and take over battles of drug and contraband trafficking., stabbings bashings. murders inside and outside jail and fighting around all the jails drug control with the newer rivals of upstart gangster crims that were now taking over the drug flow and dealing in the new built prisons like H.M.Barwon and H.M. Port Phillip Maximum Security Prisons. In many ways the prisons might be more modern tha Pentridge, but they are worse now because of the new breed of younger, violent drug using and trafficking crims, that have no respect for anyone or any thing, and just stab, kill and bash any one that gets in their way. Modern Crims are just crazy druged up maggot low lfes, that would bash up a old lady or kill a innocent bystander. And it is going to get worse now there is so much Prison Overcrowing, 4 men to a cell now in some prisons. Maybe Pentridge wasn’t so bad after all. The new Dodge City is now, H.M.Barwon Acasia and Banksia Units. They may not get bashed any more or have to break the rocks on the cross, but you could cut the tension in those modern cell blocks with a knife… The Built up tension in the modern Slots, are a riot brewing. With the old crims and the new drug world crims and OMG Biker kingpins fighting for controll. What a Scary place to now be. I glad im no longer a screw, working in that love, hateful environment .
Greg Bluey Brazel and Keithy George Faure have gone on to commit more murders of violence, and will most likely be in the modern nicks for the rest of their lives and die in stir…. That’s the difference from once notorious crim to the other. So just like the Crims, the screws have the Good, The Bad and the Ugly!…………………Such is Life in Stir. Bad memories.

Thanks for reposting JJE, amazing. As you say, two that refused to be interviewed. Remember these lines also: Olivia Walton said. ”My family and I miss her and we grieve for her on a daily basis.” Ms Walton believes her brother is innocent. ”We implore the police to investigate every avenue so there’s no miscarriage of justice in this case,” she said. It’s a pity she didn’t implore Nigel, Elaine and herself to talk to the police given her passion to investigate every avenue.

The house of cards will fall – we just have to be patient.

Good on ya Bill, Pentridge & French Island must of worked for you, and put you on the straight and narrow, good to see you never went back. A bit like the 1974 Skyhooks, Horror Movie song.Unfortunately the old conditions of stir, will have hardened you and left a lot of indelible scars and marks on your mind. And also a few lost years of your life. Prison life also has the same effect on many of the Screws, myself included. We have become some what paranoid, for ever watchfully in our surroundings, and see things as very black and white, always watching over our shoulders, brutalised and hardened and still see our past flashback on ourselves as though we are still warders, in the free world even when off duty, or for long years after leaving our service as screws. The s&*( that went on in jail, stays with you, burnt into your mind. Even though we could go home from the jail at the end of our shift. We remain F*&^ing Dogs, as we were always being called, and it stays In our minds, we were also behind bars and also locked up in our minds, seeing the hard brutality and verbal abuse and institutionalised anger of the tough regime of , day to day, tit for tat in the high security jails.
As the boredom in much of Pentridge was like doing time in the 1980,s and 1990,s . Not as bad as your time Bill in the 1960s & 1970s, but now controlled by the dirty gained money and greed that drugs, power and corruption have bittered and twisted the underworld. Drugs have changed the old criminal world for the worst. Drugs have ruined the outside world and have ruined the inside even more. The hatred of man towards man, the them and us culture, us watching them- and them watching back at us with dislike, and hatred. The criminal gang culture, the standover of stronger prisoners over weaker prisoners, the prison rapes, The day to day prison violence, the bashings, the stabbings, the paybacks over who runs the drug trafficking inside and the damage done by prisoners addicted to these drugs and just the day to day boredom, watching the prisoner smacking up in the cells, or pacing the yards, in between their next score of smack. The deadly Hep 3, and HIV diseases formed in jail from the drugs, and just the endless stresses caused by the incarceration and the constant tension brewing between prisoner factions and groups.
They say you can remove the crim or the screw from the jail, but you can never remove the jail from the crim of the screw !………………………………………………

if the drugs are that easy available there’s only 1 way they can come in by corrupt screws are bringing them in.have it like a airport when they come on duty.empty their pockets and go thru a scanner.run by a government security firm.only on 1 week at a time that way there will be no familararity.and make the penalty so severe they wont even consider doing it.lose there pension and any super they have that’ll stop it in it’s tracks.do they have contact visits now;if so the same apply’s but done with respect at Sydney airport u go thru a body scanner at international.if they winge about the cost look at the other side of it if they can turn 10% away from drugs the money they will save of no returns to jail.its probally to logical for them to do that lets face it pollies aren’t known for being logical.they don’t mind wasting millions on advisers every year well i’m giving them good advice for free.there was hardly no drugs to what I was aware of inside.if 1 came in and it was known he was a junkie no body trusted them. kept away from them.i’m not saying there was none but if ur not in that scene u don’t know’.when I got out in 74 I got the shock of my life of all the people on dope people I new were smoking it.i was only in for 3yrs but it was like a new world .gone to SHIT lol there was plenty of dope around carlton with the uni students. just think todays lawyers; and judges; doctors ect whats it gunna be like in 20yrs f*&^ scary s*&% ah! on another note the slot turned a lot into what they are now.if u beat an animal enough it will turn nasty and crazy u cant turn a trained guard dog into a pet u can never trust it. my daughter got bitten on the face by a pet that used to be a guard dog.people are the same in a lot of ways.look in the states a lot of shootings are commited by ex marines.they train them to be killers and they can’t adjust. no Steve I don’t get any nitemares over it anymore over 40yrs ago that was another lifetime ago.u cant dwell on the past if u do they have beaten u.i moved on from it mate. have a good 1

Cheers Bill, Your 100% right, but look at the amount of corrupt screws that were caught trafficking large amounts of drugs and syringes into Barwon Prison for Prisoners The Duke Rodney Collins and Christopher Wayne Hudson, two of the most notorious and mean killers in Victorian Jails, one a hitman who did the contract murder on the Hodsons and who was working for the Former Corrupt Victoria Police Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Dale and for The Premier party drug king pin, Carl Williams. Both of them claim this is bullshit and they were innocent and set up by the then Police Commissioner Simon Overland, try to pin the Gangland Murders on him. What a web they spin. Who can we believe. Then just as ex Copper Paul Dale is about to go to trial, after having been locked up in the same high security unit as Carl Williams. Dale gets out and then just as Carl Williams is about to go Dog and give up his secrets to the Purana Taskforce, he gives his police interview and is later murdered in the highest Security part of Barwon, by Jail heavy Matthew Johnson, who says at his police record of interview, which is on youtube, That he acted alone. What a load of crap. And all the Screws were at lunch breaks and not watching there CCTV in the Acasia Slot, And then Paul Dales charges are quickly dropped by the prosecution, DPP, and he walks free. At around the same time, the Governor in charge of Barwon, who was present with Carl Williams, at the time, when he was secretly removed from Barwon Jail to a secret location at Queenscliff, with no one in the Barwon jail knowing about it and interviewed personally by the Commissioner Simon Overland, and the Purana Taskforce and offered sweetners and deals for rolling over and his kids school fees to be picked up by the Government and his father George Williams massive income tax dept to be paid for and for Carl to be given a reduction in his 35 year sentence, for talking and naming those involved in Police Corruption for all the years, including the Drug Squad corruption who had given Carl Williams and Andrew Benji Veniamin, who was also working and doing odd jobs,? for Mick Gatto, who later shot Benji in self defence? a green light to freely traffick estacy party pills, with corrupt police in his pocket. When he was returned back to Barwon Prison, The Governor, kept secret copies of his interview with Simon Overland, hidin in a safe place. Not long after his mysteriously goes missing in the high mountain country of Victoria, and his body has never been found. This isn’t just a coincident , and looks very much like fowl play. And also Carl Williams hitman Matthew Johnson and Charlie Ivanovic are now the number one heavies, with Christopher Wayne Hudson the Hells Angel Boss of Barwon Prison.
They carried out their mission of silencing Carl Williams, and the Governors copies of secret interview records of interview with Simon Overland have just vanished into dust. Who is straight and who is bent. And the other day the public servant and later Prisoner Eastman who was locked up for years, and claims he was set up and was innocent. For the murder of the Australian Federal Police Commissioner Colin Winchester, who was close to shutting down the organised Marijuana massive plantations all over N.S.W. This Eastman now claims , then Australian Federal Police Detective Simon Overland, chased him in a police vehicle and tried to run him off the road and threaten to kill him.
Is this the same, supposably honest untouchable copper, that to be years later be promoted as Chief Commissioner of the Victoria Police, and try to stop the Gangland Wars in Melbourne and bring down The self proclaimed Premier of Victoria, and Drug Kingpin Carl Williams. While at the same time Simon Overland under his watch after taking over from Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon, who had sacked Detective Sergeant Paul Dale, for his involvement in the hiring of contract murderer The Duke Rodney Collins to silence and kill Terrance Hodson and his wife. They must be all bloody innocent, HA HA, who the in the bloody hell can you trust,! to stop the corruption and the wholesale manufacturing and distribution of Drugs inside the Prison and outside in the free world, if you cant even fully trust your Police force or your Screws. The Drug Trade Crims and their bent Coppers, lawyers, and maybe even politicians are allowing the drug trade and the Mokbels and their networks to kept suppling the party drugs to the young one. They make a few big drug busts for public relations, an arrest some pushers, dealers and traffickers. But in the big picture, Drug pushing goes on, business as usual, and all palms are greased and get their cut paid to them.
Just look at the U.S.A., Columbia , Mexico and Middle east and Afganistans, Tailban, Drug Trafficking Cartels. For every drug dealer they catch with the DEA, FBI, Interpol and through the Customs and Border Protection check point. Tonnes and Tonnes of hidden and smuggled drug still slip through the dragnets. Hidden in shipping containers and boats or aircraft drop off points.
And now Drugs can even be secretly bought on secret hidden sites on the internet. The Authorities track down and remove one and another pops up and takes its place. Its all about supply and demand. And there has never been so much demand for mind altering Drugs.!………..Eveyrnight and day for the consumption of the younger generation on our streets and at the music concerts and nightclubs and entertainment strips, allsorts o Hard Drugs are out there circulating in endless supply.!……………… And.like cashed up, Kids in a candy store, and a endless supply of alcopops and alcoholic cocktails to wash them down with!…………………………………….

If i can find the Judgement and Sentence of a DARRAN JAMIESON who served his 8 year sentence for the manslaughter of a Robert Tuddenham in 1986 and released on a 2 year parole in 94-95 it may just make a break in our investigation to clear my husband by actual innocence. I am assuming that Jamiesons involvement with Valerie Hepburn -Pentridge nurse- in and out of prisons makes his history that bit harder to dig up.
Filthy rotten corruption.
